“On Sunday there is a mass…”
A temple. A football pitch. Two places of worship.
The Dome Project began as an idea in 2003 and was first designed in 2007. Its source of inspiration is the Aghia Sophia temple in Istanbul and that incredible sensation experienced by the visitor at the interior of the temple, contemplating the dome.
It concerns a football stadium with a sports pitch measuring 105×68 metres, lying in an area totalling approximately 130 acres, with a clear surface of approximately 50 acres.
10 floors, of which 2 underground parking areas, 4 tiers, 96 suites, 118 seats for people with special needs, 168 sets for companions, 280 seats for the press, 8,116 Club seats, 26,451 member seats, for a total of 50,487 sitting and fully sheltered faithful.
The roof of the football pitch is designed so that it gives the impression of a dome, even when the pitch is uncovered. Only the covering caps constitute mobile parts, providing shelter from meteorological phenomena as well as from disturbing shadows on the pitch itself.
The 4 central pillars lying at the edges – beyond supporting the roof – amplify the acoustics of the stadium and also serve to divide the host team fans from the visiting ones.
