“The shop window…on the inside”
Project vitr-in was first designed in 2009.
The challenge was to design a set of shelves for commercial use that would carry the promotional benefits of the exterior shop window. Furthermore, it would have to be extremely functional and be able to accommodate theme change easily and rapidly.
The development of the design led to a perforated back with translucent Plexiglas, on which the product-bearing shelves could be adjusted.
The translucent set of shelves is supported in front of the cubic box that contains the internal lit shop window. The window might contain a simple promotional poster (static or mobile with rolling set), objects, screens, lights or even an aquarium.
In this manner, the products seem to be hovering in front of the promotional material, rendering an impressive presentation to the commercial space.
By renewing the contents of the shop window, the whole theme aesthetics of the set of shelves and the commercial space can be renewed directly, easily and above all inexpensively, creating a lot of different ‘micro-climates’, depending on the products’ needs and the companies’ demands.
