“Watching from up high”
Project π (pGreco) had been designed in 2007, following the same concept but with entirely different characteristics.
The challenge was to unify within one and only structure the main lines of questioning during the design of a sports pitch: the shelter, the lighting and the boxes.
It was resolved to opt for symmetry in the vertical sections of the grandstands and the roof and to set the V.I.P. spaces in the roof of the pitch. Thereby, two facing parts were created, with their tops at a 5-metre distance from each other.
The whole construction of the “roof” is supported on 4 main pillars, while the other 3 provide a camouflage for the stairs and the lifts.
The capacity of project π (pGreco) was limited to 4,850 seats. The northern skybox comprises of 16 suites and the southern one comprises of the V.I.P. spaces, restaurants and bars.
